Meet: Quigley (Casey Carlson)

I met Casey a little less than two years ago. She contacted me to design her music MySpace profile, and I convinced her to let me take photos for the project, as well. I had seen her on American Idol the year before, and had been trying to build up the nerve to contact her myself about shooting with her! Needless to say, I was absolutely thrilled at the opportunity to meet and work with such a gorgeous girl.
That initial project turned into shoot after shoot after shoot (which surely you have seen on my website, blog, Flickr, Facebook, Twitter…pretty much everywhere), an amazing new friend, a lot of fun hang times, the discovery of my love for fashion and fashion photography, a trip to LA (a place I had dreamed of visiting since falling in love with Dylan McKay and Beverly Hills 90210 in 1991), my favorite photos I have ever taken, and now a music video for the music she has been trying to create since before we even met.
Casey was home from LA around Christmas-time and even though I’d never done any actual video work, she trusted me with the challenge. To be honest, I actually had very little to do with it all – Casey had come up with an amazing concept, and I just helped her capture what was in her mind. She did the editing too, and I’m constantly amazed at her immense talent. We filmed the first part of it on one of the only snowy days we’ve had in Minnesota so far this winter (which is crazy). We delayed shooting by almost 4 hours because I couldn’t get from my house to where we were meeting! Once we finally got started, she braved below-freezing temperatures, 20mph winds, and snow – all while wearing a short-sleeved dress. And she still managed to look flawless.
I’m so excited for Casey and this new project of hers. She is seriously one of the most talented, beautiful, and wonderful people that I know, and I am so proud of her for everything that she has done, and all of the amazing things that she is sure to do in the future.
